Industrial
One of the many dangers in natural gas and oil production is “fugitive emissions,” those leaks and unregulated venting that create hazardous conditions, damage the environment, contribute to lost profit, and increased fines/penalties. The Aegis is built upon the premise that continuous emissions monitoring is the most effective means of reducing emissions and safety incidents.
Lost product revenues are approximately $1B-$2.5B annually based upon a price rate of $2.63 MMBTU. Additional costs to the industry are multiplied by the cost of carbon due to greenhouse gases. Addressing the fugitive gas issues improves the bottom line for producers. Increased regulatory requirements and cost-effective solutions. The priority under the Clean Air Act at §111 is to reduce carbon emissions. Regulations that the EPA imposed in May 2016 set limits on methane and VOCs and established stationary source guidelines for producers and production facilities. Evolving safety requirements for NIOSH stipulate requirements for worker exposure to volatile gases. The Aegis-400 serves a supplemental mission as a SIS (Safety Information System) for compliance purposes.
Residential & Commercial
Today gas detection in our homes and business has become much more of a priority. According to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, incidents involving natural gas pipelines are fairly common, occurring once every two days in the United States.
177 million Americans depend on a vast network of over 2.4 million miles of underground natural gas pipelines to heat their homes. Utilities and industries work hard to maintain a safe system but sometimes accidents occur or a potential threat goes unnoticed. Incidents caused by aging infrastructure and accidents expose us to an average of 17 fatalities, 50 injuries, and $133 million in property damage annually. Carbon monoxide exposure alone is responsible for 400 American deaths, 20,000 emergency room visits, and 4,000 hospitalizations per year.
The Aegis Home-Plus helps to mitigate these and other problems by monitoring for methane, carbon monoxide and 48 other gases when called for to protect our family’s health and our assets from the risk of incidents.

Continuous Monitoring Averts Risk
The Aegis is designed and built on the premise that continuous emissions monitoring is the most effective means of reducing emissions and safety incidents. Originally designed for the oil & gas industry, the Aegis equally protects homes and business.
Wherever the leak, Aegis is a smart system that easily integrates into automated networked systems (industry or at home) providing greater information and security. Finally, the installed ESD (emergency shutdown valve) can automatically shut-down the equipment or the home utility possibly saving lives and certainly reducing reducing risk.
